Youth for Christ KwaZulu Natal (YFC/KZN) Acting Regional Director, Liz Govender and the Kindernothilfe (KNH) representatives, Phil Donnell and Dorothea Schoenfeld visited Khayalethu’s new drop-in centre in Ezinketheni on Monday, 17 January 2019.
According to Govender, the new drop-in centre is aimed at bringing hope and support to the children, youth and women of Ezinketheni. Govender said the new drop-in centre forms part of their strategy to prevent children from leaving home to live on the streets. “Children will come to the centre during weekdays after school where they will be served sandwiches and juice, thereafter they will be assisted with their homework. We urge the community members to make use of this centre”, said Govender. She added that YFC/KZN is a progressive organisation that aims to reach out to as many communities in and around Kwazulu-Natal.
KNH Representative, Dorothea Schoenfeld said she was impressed with the progress of the organisation and the positive impact it has in various communities. She added that she is positive that children from Ezinketheni will get the necessary assistance and support for their holistic growth and development through the new centre. “I am excited about the new drop-in centre, I will definitely come back to see its progress during my next visit. I hope this centre will bring change and hope to different households and the entire community,” said Schoenfeld.
