YFC/KZN Project Coordinator, Sane Shandu and Change Agents peer educators were off to Germany on Friday, 02 November 2018. The dynamic team that was nominated to represent South Africa by participating in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030 conference that is taking place in Germany consisted of learners from various Durban high schools, edutainment facilitator and Change Agents Coordinator.
The team was escorted to the King Shaka International Airport by the YFC/KZN team, parents, teachers, fellow learners and members of the media. Aaliyah Ndlovu said she was grateful for this opportunity. “I cannot wait to be in Germany. I hope and believe that we will come back with solutions for all the challenges that we come across in our schools. Everything that we will learn in Germany we will come back and implement in our societies and schools”, said Ndlovu.
The YFC/KZN Acting Regional Director, Liz Govender said she wishes the peer educators a safe journey and hope they come back empowered and more developed. Her advice to the young people was to make use of this opportunity by acquiring as much information, techniques and knowledge as possible. “I am so proud of this team and hope they will represent us well in Germany. As YFC/KZN we will be praying for you as we continue to give hope and support children, youth and women in various communities”, said Govender.
