Youth for Christ KwaZulu Natal Interns alongside their co-ordinator Nkululeko Malepane have been visiting schools around Pietermaritzburg to spread awareness about bullying.
Speaking to one of the interns, Fundiswa advised that upon their daily visits in drop-in centres in communities they started observing that a large number of kids are not going to school which raised concerns. The started an investigation and conducted interviews with them to get what was the reason for them to stay away from school, and they obtained that they are being bullied and it has affected their self-esteem said Fundiswa.
Awareness was campaigns were planned and the interns made request with schools to visit and educate about bullying. The whole purpose of these campaigns were to educate all learners on how bullying can affect a person and not only does it affect a person but it can end up involving family members. Learners were encouraged to report any form of bullying they may come across to their educators who will then take further steps.
