Youth for Christ KwaZulu Natal hosted a Thanks Giving and the Khayalethu Shelter Re-opening ceremony.
Things might have been tough for the world back in 2020 but for Youth for Christ there was a glimpse of light as the news for the Khayalethu Shelter renovations came to life after being shut down for two years by the department of Social Development as it was in a dilapidated
state, finally it was time for the makeovers.
The ceremony was attended the Staff, Government officials, stakeholders, board members and former staff who were honoured for their long years of service. The Khayalethu Shelter has been re-named after the former Regional Director Elizabeth Govender “Elizabeth’s Children’s Temporary Shelter”, an education programme named by former Regional Director Sally Mann “The Sally Mann Staff Education Support” and Excellence awards in honour of Mam’Nana Thabede former employee.
The Ceremony was a success and Mr Mabaso Director of the Khayalethu Project advised on how heart-warming it is to have these shelters up and running “We are speeding the process with the Department of Social Development so we can we able to help children who need temporary shelter”, said Mr Mabaso.
