After having several sessions for Family Strengthening with the ladies from Ezinketheni Community, the ladies have started a garden.

Sunshine Seedlings donated a variety of seeds to support their dream of starting a garden, this garden will be their source of income as they are all unemployed. The plan is to sell most of the vegetables within the community and use a small portion while they wait for the profits to feed their families.

When speaking to Mrs Mabaso, who is part of the group, she advised us on how thrilled she is “I am lost for words; just coming to water the garden every morning makes waking up worthwhile. Once we start making a profit, the ladies and I are planning to expand by selling
other things such as chickens and eggs. Khayalethu has opened a platform for us to make our lives better; we are truly grateful,” said Mrs Mabaso.

Zenhlanhla Khanyile, Family Strengthening facilitator, advised that she is very astonished by the ladies’ motivation and progress and hopes that they will accomplish all that they put their minds to.
