Tennyson House, the project of Youth For Christ hosted an event on Saturday, 1 June 2019 in support to the National Child Protection Week (28 May – 04 June 2019) that is observed annually to raise awareness of the rights of children as is articulated in the Children’s Rights.
The event saw at least 65 children from various communities and Tennyson House Residential Care and After- Care beneficiaries learning about various safety and security measures for children. The event was graced by representatives from the South African Police Services, Department of Community Safety and Liaison, Department of Social Development, Consuming Fire Ministries and other organisations.
Tennyson House Project Director, Mpho Ngidi said the organisation supported this campaign with the aim to mobilise the society to ensure that children are well taken care of and protected. She added that children needs to speak out against rape and other forms of abuse. “Our aim is to educate children about their right and measures that are in place to ensure their safety and security”, said Ngidi.
