YFC/KZN attended the Heartlines Bridge Leadership Getaway at the African Enterprise Centre in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday, 12 June and Thursday, 13 June 2019.

Heartlines Lead Facilitator, Seth Naicker, said the purpose of the two-day getaway was to use the power of storytelling to build deep and meaningful relationships among KZN organisations and church leaders. “We believe that getting to know each other’s stories is the first step towards breaking down the misconceptions and prejudices that divide us. What’s your Story? is an initiative built on a three-step framework of Ask, Listen and Tell ,that aims to build understanding and ultimate, trust and reconciliation through sharing of our stories”, said Naicker.

YFC/KZN Acting Regional Director, Liz Govender said the organisation supports the initiative of Heartlines “What’s your Story” since its aimed at addressing and resolving issues that divides people in various workplaces, churches, social places and society. “Storytelling gives us a non-threatening platform where we can have conversations that may be helpful to addressing and overcoming things that divide us such as racism, class, age, gender and others”, said Govender.
