Imbali 14 youth, UKZN students and Youth for Christ/KZN Khayalethu project gathered for a prayer meeting and motivational talk at Imbali 14 community hall on the 24th of October 2019. The meeting was aimed at motivating, encouraging and praying for all those who are writing their final examinations.
The pupils were motivated by Ndu Hlela, who is currently studying LLB and plans to pursue Medicine after his Honours Degree. He encouraged the pupils to be fearless and courageous. “It is not too late to change and do the right thing. Educators played their part, it is also your turn to play yours. Work hard and invest your time in your books. We all have what it takes to excel, the only difference is our priorities and attitude”, said Hlela.
Lungelo Mkhize, grade 12 pupil at Insikayethu Secondary School said the prayer motivated and strengthened him. “I was scared every time I thought about writing my final exams since I felt like I did not study enough. This prayer has given me strength and hope. The motivational talk has encouraged me not to give up but to press on and work hard”, he said.
Zandile Mbhembe, grade 12 pupil at Esiqongweni Secondary School said she appreciates the support that they receive from the community, local churches and YFC/KZN. She added that the new afternoon education programme that runs daily in the hall is making a positive impact in her life and studies. “Having a quiet place to study since we do not have a library has made my study life very easy. We also have tutors who support and help us. Having people who care about our education and future motivates us to do even better and strive for excellence”, she said.
