For every story there is a lesson to be learnt.  Continual learning is essential for lifetime growth. You can have a great deal of experience and be no smarter at all.  Experience alone is no guarantee of lifetime growth, but if you regularly transform your experiences into new lessons, you will make each day for your life a source of growth.  The smartest people are those who can transform the smallest events or situations into breakthroughs in their thinking and action.

In retrospect, I think of all the sessions I attended in the Internship Programme, and I see that I have transformed into a better person each time, by applying the information I received.  I also found that with Jesus Christ it is never too late to change, as He changed ‘Saul who was haunting Christians into Paul a deliver’.

As I reflected on my past, I cried for the times I dishonoured and disrespected myself.  I am so grateful for what I have learnt in the Internship Programme, and now there is no need for me to cry about my past.  I am responsible for each day of my life.  I realise that life is a school and I am learning.  I feel that I am able to face life challenges with a new strength, because of what I have learnt.

To some it might just seem to be another Internship Programme, but for me, I know it is much more.  The Internship Programme has taught me to learn and then apply what I have learnt, being transformed each time.

THERE IS A STORY TO TELL: TRANSFORMATION

To every lesson there is a story to tell, continual learning is essential for lifetime growth. You can have a great deal of experience and be no smarter for all the things you have done, seen, and heard. Experience alone is no guarantee of lifetime growth, but if you regularly transform your experience into new lessons, you will make each day for your life a source of growth. The smartest people are those who can transform even the smallest events or situations into break through experiences in their thinking and action.

In retrospect I look at myself since I have started to attend the sessions of Internship programme in Youth for Christ and I find that that there is a lot of information I have gained which transformed me into a better person that I am today. I also found that Jesus Christ is never too late to change us. As he did change “Saul who was haunting Christians into Paul a deliver”.

On the day I did a retrospection I cried because the only thing left for me was to cry. I cried for the days and all the ways and all the times I had dishonoured, disrespect and disconnected myself but through Internship programme I am able to be responsible for each and every time minute of my life because I found that life is a school and I no longer cry because Internship has fulfilled my weak soul and I am able to face life challenges with a strength and now I will never face challenges that I wont be able to solve them by myself.

To someone it may seem to be just an Internship, but it is not, it is a conference of knowing Christ because we attend meetings designed to help us learn, then do nothing with what we’ve learned and heard after closing our notebooks, so I may say don’t get exited about a learning event, get exited about learning and you have not really learned it until you have applied it.

BEING A PURPOSE DRIVEN WOMAN

In my life, I made so many wrong and right decisions but there is one decision I made that has changed my life. That decision was to accept Jesus Christ as my personal saviour. I am now striving to take a journey with Him, to serve Him with all my being and to follow in His foot steps. Since I’ve heard about Him I’ve never looked back and I found out that my path or my calling is to be a “Pastor”.  I want to preach His gospel to people so that they will change their mind and accept Him. He works miracles in my life when he put me in YFC. He wants me to fulfil my desire to be a preacher of His good words.

I am in the Internship Program at YFC. The sessions that we have in Internship are very inspirational to me because they direct my path.  I am gaining so much knowledge just by attending these courses. We have learnt so many new things that we did not know before.  I am now not shy to speak about Jesus of Nazareth, because of the things that I have learnt.  My faith has been restored and I am growing in the Lord. I thank God for this programme, and I know He has good plans for me to prosper and I also have faith in Him. The first opportunity I will get I will tell the whole world about Jesus Christ my saviour, and also to warn them that devil is there to strike us down but if we arm with Jesus, no devil can play with our lives.
I am looking forward to the topics that we are still to cover and discuss, because I know it where I will get strength. Being in Youth for Christ was not a mistake in my life, as a purpose driven woman.  This Internship program has a major role in my life, and is helping me to build a strong relationship with Jesus. Thanks for bringing hope into our lives.

With Jesus I know I can do everything for He is the pillar of my strength, and the comforter of my soul. “Phil 4:13”. I wish the sessions with Internship facilitator help others as it is to me.  Everyday I find that I am more in-love with Jesus Christ.

Thembeka is one of the interns in DBN who is growing spiritually. She was having trouble at home, and was beginning to wonder whether her mother was really her biological mother, because of the terrible way she treated her.

Thembeka was very upset as she felt her family had turned against her, and her child. Her fellow interns continued encouraging and supporting her. Thembeka had decided to leave home and try to live her life on her own, but she realised that it is not good to run away from her problems but to confront it and solve it. Thembeka is very happy to have people (fellow interns) who are supporting her with prayers and continuously offering her encouragement.

Thembeka reported that she is doing fine, as certain problems in her family have been resolved. “To be here in YFC guys it real changing my life especial my bad behaviour and bad attitude, and I am still believing that I ‘m going to learn more” said Thembeka smiling. fin.

Lindelani started on the Internship Program on the 1st of June 2008. Lindelani was sharing that he sees a change in his life since he joined the Internship Program. Although he thought he was a Christian, he realised that his moods, anger and negative behaviour towards those that angered him was not Christian like. Being part of the daily devotions and trainings on the Interneship Program has helped him so much. He admitted that before he thought he could pray and read the bible on Sunday in church but now he knows that prayer and reading the bible is our daily life and he is very excited! He thoroughly enjoys being part of the team where they can all share ideas. He said “I’m great today because now I know my identity in Christ”. This is so amazing to see Lindelani so happy as he realises who he really is! We Praise God for this!
We had a great time with Lindelani! Our sincere prayer is that God use him for His glory as he opens up his heart to God. fin.

“I am Nontu Ndlovu, currently staying at Sinathing although originally from Lanskoop. I come from a family of eight (8) which is my two parents, four brothers, one sister and myself.

Before I joined YFC/KZN as an intern my life was terrible, since my background is not good. My dream was to become a social worker. I didn’t make it because of the financial crisis at home since there is so many of us at home.

Last year I tried to upgrade my symbols but I didn’t make it. However this year is a like a blessing, yes let me say it is a blessing because since I joined YFC/KZN as an intern and I see my dreams coming back!

To be here at YFC especially in internship, I am being encouraged and rebuilding that hope in my life, which was previously lost. The internship trainings help me personally to gain my confidence and it builds my self-esteem. Since my dream is to become a social worker, I think I’m on the right track because here I’m working with children. I just love children with all of my heart.

Being part of the internship program has helped me and it still helping me because most of the things that we do challenges me to take positive decisions with my life. I’m still expecting a lot here in internship.

I would like to thank you guys (YFC) for giving me this opportunity to build up my self-esteem and my identity. For Internship …you rock guys”. fin.

We had an interaction with one of the interns; he was sharing a story about his father and his excitement of seeing his father appreciating what he is doing.

Kenzani was not staying with his father because his dad left them when they were still young. However his dad is living back at home now, but he is very sick. Kenzani shared how touched he was as we spoke about the issue of forgiveness. Last week he decided to surprise his father on his birthday by buying cake and some snacks just to celebrate his father’s birthday. He was surprised by his father reaction. Kenzani’s father told him that he was not expecting all that Kenzani did for him, as he failed to be responsible parent. Kezani was so excited to see his father starting to speak positive, recognising his mistakes and trying to build a better relationship.

Kenzani was so happy, saying that being in Internship made him realise the importance of forgiveness and he is eager and willing to learn more.
