Despite the bitter and uncomfortable late winter weather, stroking with a cold, unbearable breeze, the community of Ezinketheni weathered this and come out in large numbers seeking help and answers from the departments who visited them to help and listen to their grievances.
Youth for Christ YFC/KZN Khayalethu in partnership with Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) held an awareness campaign called Operation MBO, in Ezinketheni on the 13th August 2019. The purpose of this event was to provide the community with more information regarding their problems they have pertaining to the departments that were presented, for example, a child who does not have a Child Support Grant is reffered to South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) and bring the services to the people.
Lucy Zulu, the Drop-in centre facilitator reiterated the people’s sentiment and urged the locals to use this services, “ I would like to thank the people of Ezinketheni for supporting this event, suprisingly they came in large numbers and the event went very well. We hope to have more events of this nature to help this community’, she said.
The event consisted of representatives from various departments such as South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA), Department of Social Development (DSD), Thandanani Children’s Home, Msunduzi Municipality, Khan Road Clinic and others.
