Each month the directors choose one person who has excelled in their service within the Organisation. Coordinators from all the projects put in nominations and the directors rate each nomination and one person gets chosen as staff or intern of the month. Profiles of these staff will be placed here so that you may get to know these people better.

ROD CAPON

I would like to nominate Rod. He worked non-stop at the General Assembly, even though he is twice the age of most of the other volunteers. Rod never complained, and was always in high spirits. He made every effort to attend the sessions in spite of being tired. He was a brilliant example to all our younger staff of what servant leadership should look like.

SIYA ZONDI

I nominate Siya Zondi (Hospitality and Site Co-ordinator) at L’Abri. Although I do not work in the L’Abri project, I have observed remarkable qualities in Siya. He is always polite and friendly. I’ve observed him interacting with the L’Abri staff and it is evident that he loves his job and takes great pride in giving his very best. It is also evident that Siya loves Jesus, which is an asset to L’Abri (as a project) and YFC/KZN as a whole. I therefore nominate Siya as August staff of the month.

SIPHO KHOMO – ‘The Gift’

Sipho works in the GoLD Project and is passionate about serving others. He is such a fun person to be around and he brings so much joy to others. We all know that he loves singing, and he shares that he is fan of good African Jazz music!

A verse that gives Sipho constant inspiration is Isaiah 61v1-7.

Sipho’s colleagues have observed the level of passion he portrays in his work. His colleague often laughs at him as he eagerly volunteers to assist wherever he can, even if the duty is not his. He also has a huge amount of respect for all the people he works with. His dedication can be witnessed by the growth and excellence shown in the life of his 3 interns.

Sipho does not get discouraged easily and daily comes to work with a new energy.

We thank God for Sipho’s life and the value to adds to YFC/KZN!

TINEYI

The Maykhethele Team vote for our programme coordinator Tineyi Chigunduru. He has worked so hard with the project and handled challenges and frustrations with such maturity.
At times he works through the night capturing data on the data base. We often don’t know how he balances driving the team around, meeting principals of schools, doing home visits, waking up at 5am to stand in long queues at Home Affairs, attending meetings and still motivating the team.

Tineyi is like a father to us and we are so proud to have a coordinator like him. He also goes out of his way to assist the team with their personal problems. We think if he is voted staff of the month, it would be our best present to thank him for his hard work. He really deserves to be staff of the month!

March 2008
DERRICK MABASO

Derrick Mabaso works in the Khayalethu project, and is part of the After Care Family. Derrick is driven by passion and shows incredible commitment in the work that he does. He believes in young people and has a great bond and connection with them. Outside of work Derrick still extends his hands to the upliftment of young people through running two soccer teams. At work Derrick often goes beyond the call of duty,

and never complains. This month he assisted an elderly lady and her family that were unable to get their documents from home affairs, and did so with great patience. We can confidently say that Derrick lives out YFC’s core value of portraying excellence in his work! Thank you Derrick!

BART

Bart is a volunteer from the Netherlands who served with us for 6 months. He served with the L’Abri project and was very dedicated worker.
Bart has such a pleasant character. He always has a smile on his face and has such a positive attitude. He is very respectful to all staff, and is a wonderful person to have around the office and L’Abri. He has been very consistent and has shown strength and perseverance.

Nothing is too much for him and he is always willing to go the extra mile. YFC’s Core values are part of who Bart is. Clients have only sung his praises and the children have really benefited from his talks, fantastic energy and genuine concern no matter what their background. We are sad to see him leave.
